Can a Range Rover tow a boat? You bet! The 2023 Range Rover towing capacity varies from 5,511 pounds to 8,200 pounds depending on the powertrain you select, and this means that every model can haul a fishing boat, an A-frame camper, a pop-up trailer, or your favorite outdoor gear. This SUV is a perfect fit for the most adventurous drivers in Greenwich and New Canaan!

2023 Range Rover Towing Capacity by Powertrain

With three potent powertrains available—including a plug-in hybrid variant—the latest Range Rover has something for everyone! Compare their specs and towing capacities before you settle on the model that’s right for you:

P400 AWD Automatic MHEV

  • Towing Capacity of 7,716 pounds
  • 394 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque
  • Available on Range Rover SE

P440e AWD Automatic PHEV

  • Towing Capacity of 5,511 pounds
  • 434 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque
  • EV Range of 48 miles
  • Available on Range Rover SE (Standard Wheelbase Only)

P530 AWD Automatic

  • Towing Capacity of 8,200 pounds
  • 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque
  • Available on Range Rover SE, Autobiography, First Edition, SV

If you plan on towing a larger camping trailer or a fishing boat, it might be a good idea to stick with the P400 MHEV or upgrade with the P530 V8. However, for most New Canaan and Stamford drivers, the plug-in hybrid configuration will offer the perfect balance of capability and efficiency.

Range Rover Towing Features

Towing heavy cargo isn’t just a matter of having lots of power under the hood—but Land Rover SUVs have always offered much more than power alone. The 2023 Range Rover is no exception; all of the following features come standard across the lineup:

  • Trailer Stability Assist (TSA)
  • Electrical towing preparation
  • Front and rear recovery eyes
  • Hill Descent Control (HDC)
  • Hill Launch Assist
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
  • Electronic Traction Control (ETC)
  • Low traction launch
  • Twin-speed transfer box (high/low range)
  • Terrain Response 2
  • All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC)

Although the baseline Range Rover gives you everything you’ll need to tow confidently, those who plan to spend a lot of time with a trailer might want to upgrade with the Autobiography, First Edition, or SV trim levels. Each of these models includes an Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking, which can provide an even more controlled ride.
